No issues here fully upgrade sid. Might help that I am using the radeon driver, the ATI in this thing is too old for fglrx. Never had any problems over the years using nvidia.

For those that might be using smxi, libwrap0 is on hold until bug 631252 is fixed.

If you are running KDE libqtgui4 is broken in sid.
4:4.7.3-2 is the good version if you already upgraded to -3 use the snapshot repo to downgrade or wait for the fixed packages to be uploaded to the Debian repos.

If you are using smxi libqtgui4 is on hold so d-u is safe using smxi.

Edit- New packages are already in Debian Incoming and should hit the repos soon.

From #debian-kde
WARNING: avoid libqtgui4 4:4.7.3-3 at all costs (#631652) || KDE Plasma Workspaces 4.6.4 uploaded to unstable. There won't be more until 4.6.5.

Anyway it was only an issue if you used svn, it didn't really affect anything else.
I went ahead with the upgrade when I saw the bug.
Usually the only time I won't upgrade is if the bug is 'grave' or 'severe' and might affect KDE/kdm from starting.

Just migrated my LMDE (Xfce) to 'sid' based. aptitude full-upgrade worked fine and everything going ok.

When others migrated here, did you have to make any adjustments to /etc/apt/preferences or other central config files? All I have done is change my debian sources.list entries and do an aptitude full-upgrade outside X.

I noticed though that Linuxmint repos are pinned higher than Debian - does that create any library dependency issues?

btw, I've made the change prompted by the new 'standard' download arrangements. Not because I don't like them - but because the new repos (copies) don't have any mirrors. My ISP has a complete Debian mirror ( in fact it has many Linux versions but not Mint) and all downloads from that mirror are 'download quota' free. Our internet plans here in Oz all have download quotas on them per month. I could have just stayed attached to 'testing' but eventually I would expect all 'standard' LMDEers will move to either "incoming" or "latest" and use the Update Pack method. ( I hope they do a better job than the old Microsoft Service Packs used to?!). So, why stay linked to testing if I'm not going to use Mint Update - I may as well move to Sid and save my quota and have some fun while I'm at it!

cheers,
rhodry.

Is anything currently broken in SID that would cause Gnome to just load my desktop wallpaper and never load the rest of Gnome? Frustrating as hell, it kind of makes me wish my computer had a face so I could punch it there.

Yeah, had the same problem on multiple systems ... my gnome-panel never shows up, and CPU usage is always a minimum of 39%. Ironically, gnome-panel is 10% of that.

Luckily, I reinstalled two of the systems back to LMDE on the new "latest" testing repo, and those are working well. I'll just ride it out and keep updating sid until its fixed.
