I like movies based on true stories. There are a lot which impressed me like

Into The Wild (Sean Penn) or Human Trafficking (Christian Duguay) for example.

Yellow Submarine
A Hard Day's Night
Help!
Magical Mystery Tour
(The above are all Beatles movies, of course. They're all excellent.)

Phantom of the Paradise (1970s-set reimagining of the novel "Phantom of the Opera" starring Paul Williams, who also wrote the songs, but there ain't no Rainbow Connection here! )
The Muppet Christmas Carol (Starring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, with soundtrack by Paul Williams. Not really a personal favorite, but it's a tradition of my family's that we watch this every Christmas Eve, and it's enjoyable enough.)

Brokeback mountain.

Errrr .... kidding, actually haven't seen it. Not to be politically incorrect or insensitive to people with "alternative lifestyles" or nuttin. But hollywood ... really thought da masses needed a movie about two gay cowboys riding bareback on da range ?

disclaimer: This is mainly intended to be an attempt at humor ( aka: A joke ). Though is almost certain to offend someone. This is a purely unintended side effect of the post. Plus lets face it, anything anyone could possibly say is almost certain to offend or hurt somebodies widdle feelers. There are many great people with alternative lifestyles, have met a few. So ummmm, yeah. On a positive note, no puppies or kittens were hurt during the typing of this post. :D

More babbling ... Hmm favorite movies eh. If you're like me, stuff like this is one of those unanswerable questions. Like asking what's your favorite band ... etc. There are people who can answer that ? D:

Gladiator ... though far from favorite blahblah.
Remember ... what we do in life. Echo's through eternity.
That line is pretty kewl imo. :D

Vengeance Unlimited
Mr. Chapel is a man without a past. His M.O. is to send people who have been wronged by the system, or by criminals, clippings of other people he has helped out. He then offers them help in return for either 1 million dollars or a future favor they're to do him. Chapel then sets out to bring justice to the criminals, using elaborately plotted scams and some subtle violence as necessary.
This was a GREAT series, but it only lasted one season. And, for whatever reason, it will probably never be released on DVD. I've got some poor VHS to DVD copies that I break out every once in a while.

Another great short-lived series I might as well include is "Dead Like Me". This one only lasted 2 seasons, but it did make it to DVD.

...yeah, yeah...I know they aren't movies, but Karliet mentioned "series" and these two just popped out. I had to look up "Full Metal Alchemist" and noticed it was a short lived series as well.
