I have a problem with Mint 12 RC installation that I thought to be unique to Natty: the installer crashes during the attempt to create the user account. While the requester tells me that I would be given the chance to post an error report, the installer in fact just closes without giving me that opportunity. The Live Session works without a hitch, btw.
The details:
Mint 12-RC 64bit
Dell Precision M4500 Mobile Workstation (core i7 Q840 quad core at 1.87 GHz, Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M graphics, 8 GB memory)
Disk layout:
/dev/sda - 2.5" SSD (internal), Ubuntu 10.04 - not to be touched
/dev/sdb - mSATA mini-SSD, Windows 7, not to be touched
/dev/sdc - eSATA HDD, various OS installations - Mint to be installed here
Partitions and GRUB boot sector:
GRUB to be written to MBR of /dev/sdc
/dev/sdc10 - blank partition for Mint /
/dev/sdc9 - shared /home for various OS installations (ext3)
Special installation options: encrypt home directory.
Note: I made sure to choose a unique username for the Mint installation (to avoid possible conflicts with existing user directories in /home)
Well, it crashes each and every time. If somebody could point me to the log files I should post here, I would really appreciate it! If somebody has a magical solution for me, so much the better!
