I like Melissa, but it sounds too much like Elyssa, which has been used already.
However, maybe there's a code going on:
Elyssa was an LTS
Isadora was an LTS

Some names are so loaded with associations that it's distracting. Like Maria, Mona Lisa, or Marijuana!!!!
This is a name for an OPERATING SYSTEM.
But it needs to sound a LITTLE classy, not too ordinary, but not TOO obscure either... that at least is my take on the previous names.
Of the ones mentioned so far, I like Martina and Monica the best. While they don't MEAN "mint", the letter n's in them cause them to go nicely with "Mint".

3> MATE, the DE to keep the Gnome 2 interface alive
4> Some LM versions still Ubuntu based
5> Some LM versions moving exclusively to Debian
6> Probably many more that I neither know about and/or understand
Maybe Linux Mint 13 will be where all these exciting moving parts solidify into something REALLY great. And the outcome just might leave you -- light-headed

Another good name is Míriel , taken from Tolkien's masterpiece, The Silmarillion. If I remember correctly, she was Feanor's mother.
