Installing Freenx?

Post by c-m »

How does one go about installing and setting up free-nx with SSH on LMDE?

The best guide only covers Ubuntu - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeN ... and_higher

The Freenx debian repos don't work, and the download page is pure blank - http://freenx.berlios.de/download.php

What are LMDE users suppose to do?

Thanks

Try these repos -

Code: Select all

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/freenx-team/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/freenx-team/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
Taken from this page - https://launchpad.net/~freenx-team/+archive/ppa

Here is the repo key for synaptic -

Add in the repo works.

If i install free nx is wants to remove sysvinit - the description of sysvinit is: "This package contains programs required for booting
a Debian system and doing basic process management."

I'm guessing its not safe to do this?

I'm going to say no.
But someone who is a bit wiser on the workings of "sysvinit" should, hopefully, come along and shed a better light on this.
