nvidia-xconfig set by hand, second monitor not recognised

Post by Niks »

I have a dual head video card which is has two identical monitors attached.
Nvidia settings finds only one monitor correctly and the other a much lower resolution unknown type.

What to do I need to change in nvidia-xconfig to have both screens in the same (1440x900) resolution :?:

This problem only started with the update to with Gnome 3 .
The X.Org X server -- Nouveau display drivers were removed by Gnome 3 so I had to switch to the nvidia-glx (173.xx) .
I know this is not really a Mint issue but I can not finding anything on-line yet, that doesn't leave me with with a black screen or just just a text log in !

For the record I'm using LMDE 32 with all 5 levels updated and it's a clean install with only chrome, cheese and webcamstudio as added apps.

We need your screen configuration: xrandr -q and the version of Xrandr: xrandr -v

Xrandr is the application for the screen's detection used by Linux.
