Hi,
I just upgraded my LMDE to Upgrade 4, and i am having some issues/
MATE/CINNAMON
- Skype wont load the theme color no meter what is set in options. On dark theme Skype is still white and it is like a sore thumb in the eye.
MATE
- KDE applications do not load default theme, this wasnt an issue with gnome2.
- NetBeans does not load the theme by default, so it loads with default swing theme.
(walkaround: --laf com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel ) added to the launcher command
Is there a cure for this ?

Re: LMDE UP4 Dark theme issue with Skype and KDE apps
Solution for KDE apps and Skype
install gt4-qtconfig, run in terminal qtconfig -> select GUI style: GTK+
set 3-D Effects and Window Background -> chose color that matches your themes
in Tune palette -> Central color roles dropdown check if colors corespond to your theme
Solution for NetBeans
added to the launcher command
--laf com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel
Java Apps in general (swing):
http://askubuntu.com/questions/21886/ho ... -gtk-theme

Re: LMDE UP4 Dark theme issue with Skype and KDE apps
Hmm, I thought one needs to install "systemsettings" (KDE's system settings tool) and select GTK+ style there. I don't have qt4-qtconfig installed and I've managed to adjust everything for KDE apps (for Krusader, to be precise) via systemsettings just fine.
Re: LMDE UP4 Dark theme issue with Skype and KDE apps
Yes it should work with systemsettings, but in my case it did not work.
I had kdeglobals (colors) set but the graphics did not load until i set GTK+ in qtconfig.

Re: LMDE UP4 Dark theme issue with Skype and KDE apps
I've run into the same problem. I have fixed it with several steps, but I'm not sure which ones are essential. Here's what I did.
1) Back up ~/.config/google-chrome to another directory. I found that my fonts in chrome were messed up after kde apps were fixed.
2) Install qt4-qtconfig, qtcurve, and gtk2-engines-oxygen. (Don't know that *both* qtcurve and gtk2-engines-oxygen are essential, but I think the problem may be that there is no kde theme engine).
3) run qtconfig-qt4 and select gtk+ in the "select gui style" dropdown.
4) logout and login
5) copy back the google-chrome backup to ~/.config
I think you could also do the same thing with the package "systemsettings" instead of qt4-qtconfig if you prefer.
Hope this helps.
