Hey
How do I upgrade from 12 to 13 without having to download and install it over the top?
With Ubuntu, IIRC it's sudo apt-get upgrade - is it the same for LM? (I'm new to LM! )

The only reliable method is to download and burn the new CD/DVD.
Backup all important files then do a clean install..

Re: How Do I Upgrade To LM13?
If you are fully aware of the risk in doing so and want to take it, then I imagine a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" would do it, but I haven't tried it, the failure percentage is just too high, see this recent poll on an ubuntu fan blog: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/05/how- ... e-go-poll/ - only a less than 50% chance of success. Doing a clean install is not so much more time consuming than doing an upgrade and remains the best way to jump from version to version.
Re: How Do I Upgrade To LM13?
interesting. I was a long-time openSuSE user..always did the upgrade, always successfull. This is kinda lame.
Re: How Do I Upgrade To LM13?
To paraphrase a commonly heard expression regarding Linux vs a famous OS, "Ubuntu is not openSuSE". The recommended Mint method of upgrading has produced tried and true results over and again, particularly if suggestions re partitioning your home and data folders and precautionary backup procedures are followed.
