Hi
I am running a lenovo x121e laptop and I have been really struggling to install LMDE on it. I can't get past the UEFI/grub issue that plagues linux.
I have tried following numerous tutorials, but I am not a linux expert and there's no beginner level tutorials available.
I downloaded the 64-bit image, created a usb stick with unetbootin, installed normally. Grub doesn't show up. I know it is because of UEFI but I can't fix it.
Legacy boot doesn't work.
For example, I followed this guide to the T: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/UEFI_Firmware
The computer complains about not finding devices (I guess the mounting is wrong)
http://www.webtechquery.com/index.php/2 ... m-live-cd/ This one basically complained about the same thing.
I don't get what I am supposed to be doing in both cases.
Also tried switching my partition table to MSDOS and back to GPT, as someone suggested in the other post about this problem, doesn't work for me.
Could somebody provide me with step by step newbie instructions how to install and BOOT LMDE on this machine?
Thanks

Re: How to install LMDE 201204 with UEFI?
Solved it. Installed LMDE normally (but chose not to install grub) but before installing made a 170mb FAT32 partition (sda1) which is the first partition now. Also enabled the boot flag on it through gparted.
Once installed, I booted up boot-repair-disk and let it do the recommended thing.

Grub now boots and lets me into my LMDE installation.
