Hey there,
I have Linux Mint 12 with Gnome on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5750G - Intel i3 2310m(Sandy-Bridge) - 4 GB DDR3-RAM - Hybrid-Graphics by Nvidia Geforce and Intel HD).
My problem now is, that I have a AC runtime of ca. 2 - 2,5 hours.. As a comparison: Under Win7, my runtime is at least 4 hours..
And yes, i tried powertop, jupiter-applet, tlp and so on, but nothing works fine..
My fan is running hard under LM12 and the laptop gets comparative warm.
I'm researching for the problems for about a month and don't find a solution.
So my questions: 1) How can i apply the tips from powertop?
2) I have read, that there are wake-up problems with the Sandybridge-Chipsets, is there any solution?!
I hope, anybody can help me, because i really love to work with LM!
Oh, and sorry for my creepy English!
greetings, grungefreak..

Re: Power Saving Tipps
Hi Grungefreak,
one thing I always do after installing Mint is go to Synaptic and remove everything compiz related. You can also change the desktop theme to something lighter than Mint-X.

Re: Power Saving Tipps
And what effect does it have for my AC runtime? I like the blank Gnome theme..
Re: Power Saving Tipps
Removing compiz = less eye candy = less processes running = less power consumption. Same thing about the theme, for example the default Mint-X seems heavier than Mint-Z.
Re: Power Saving Tipps
I have deleted compiz, but i guess it hasn't that much influence on the runtime.
How can i change the "Bad"s into "Good"s in the Powertop Tip Menu?!

Re: Power Saving Tipps
Press Return/Enter on the keyboard, then press r to resort the list and bring the bad to the top.grungefreak wrote:[url=http://postimage.org/image/m8oxin5mv/]
