Can't access to my personal folder

Post by AnnaConda » Tue Jun 26, 2012 10:28 am

Hi,

I just finished installing Linux, and when I tried to access to MATE, a error message appeared :
The path for the directory containing caja settings need read and write permissons :
/home/"nom de l'utilisateur"/.config/caja
And the icon to my personal folder doesn't appear. What could be wrong ? :(

Ok, try this.
Open a terminal.

Paste this: "sudo chmod 777 -R ~/.config/caja" and hit enter

Now logout and log back in, the error message shouldn't appear anymore.

Press CTRL+ALT+F1
Login, then do what I stated earlier.

Doesn't work. It says that "caja" doesn't exist.

Go to the command line pressing Ctrl F2 and take an ownership of ~/.config/caja

If you have no ~/.config/caja file, yoy can make it using command mkdir -p /home/your_username/.config/caja

sudo chown your_username:your_username -R /home/your_username
