double folders launch mint 11

using Mint 11 and all of the sudden it decides to open two folders at once every time. if i click on any folder in my home such as music photo doc. it will launch two and stall for a while and then one closes. it will do this even if another program launches the folder. I downloaded a file and when it opened automatically it launched two.

also when i try to open Nautilus it will not open

got it fixes by upgrading my file handler to mate. works way faster with no issues at all

I wonder if it was a hiccup that could be fixed by removing or commenting out the config files for nautilus.
