Slow down there ... all software has updates, and all operating systems must have security updates!callis1 wrote:i am now at last windows free got rid of vista for mint maya 13 kde fantastic no more security updates, service packs etc.
Welcome to the Mint community.
Re: hello all
I realise this but with linux you dont fill up half the hard drive with security updates, did updates for windows after a reinstall of vista on a 40 gig hd ended up with only 9 gig left.
on linux 29gig left.

Hi callis1, welcome to the Linux Mint forums Thanks for joining the forums! As for your question about ideas for distros to run on your PowerPC, DistroWatch to the rescue! Here is their list, with summary, of the distros supporting PowerPC: http://distrowatch.com/search.php?architecture=powerpc. I'd probably go with Debian (http://www.debian.org/ports/powerpc/), but Yellow Dog Linux (http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/) also looks nice.
