So, I bought a netbook for my mom recently. Wondering if any of you netbook users experience any slowdowns on Mint KDE? If not, I will put KDE on my parent's laptop since it most resembles Windows 7; otherwise I will put Xfce or Gnome 2 (Mint 9). I've never had a netbook before, I have 2 LAPTOPS (dual core and all that good stuff).
Please post your opinions on this matter and PLEASE vote (VOTE ONLY IF you have a netbook with ANY -->>[Intel Atom]<<-- processor AND are running KDE on it).
Specs of the netbook:
HP Mini 1151 NR
Intel Atom 1.6GHz (not 1.66GHz, but the 60MHz shouldn't make much difference anyways)
90GB HDD
1GB RAM
Intel GMA 950 graphics

Moved here by moderator.
Linking to a somewhat related post: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=105091. There are some Intel Atom processors (CedarView: D2300, D2500, D2550, D2600, D2700; and Cedar Trail: N2600, N2700, N2800)) that have a PowerVR GPU (GMA 500, GMA 600, GMA 3600 or GMA 3650) and that are not well supported on Linux. If you're thinking about buying something with an Intel Atom processor, avoid these.

Re: [!!POLL!!] Mint KDE nice with Intel Atom? Intel GMA gfx
Thank you for your replies all.
Vincent, luckily the GFX chip is a GMA 950 so I'm good I think
Caf4926, good to know OpenSUSE KDE runs well on your Atom; probably Mint KDE will also. If it doesn't, I could make the switch to OpenSUSE (it's just as green as Mint )
The-Wizard, how well does Gnome 2 work on your netbook? or XFCE?
P.S. Caf4926, you should vote...It makes it faster and easier for people to compare

Voting is subjective given the choice of answers.
I did vote. But it given the understanding that this is a netbook.
It's never going to perform as well or quickly as a more powerful Laptop or Desktop.
