Howto Edit/Add items (custom launchers) to the menu in xfce?
BTW I would like to edit the config file manually.

I know of a tool called Lxmed. I know it's Java based, but that's all I know. I've never used it...
Also, I've just discovered MenuLibre, which sounds very promising.

to remove an item from the menu

Code: Select all

Add NoDisplay=true to the .desktop
MenuLibre looks like it is at least in the 21st century, haven't used it enough to give an opinion yet, but it does have and editor tab to edit manually if you wish. Image http://www.ubuntugeek.com/menulibre-men ... unity.html

another 'alacarte" I believe they repackaged to not depend on a lot of Gnome libs...
alacarte works better in Xfce 4.10 than in Xfce 4.8 (current LMDE version)

P.S. never heard of 'menulibre' BUT will try. Does it seem easier/better than alacarte or lxmed?? :?:

Edit see it;s a ppa (Ubuntu) is their a deb or does it work for debian (LMDE)? :?:

It installs as a deb, but not a good idea to start using PPA's in Debian for maybe not this time, sooner or later something will break,

You can get the tarball from here. https://launchpad.net/menulibre

Thx, I've created a .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/ for my application and it works well now:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Name=my_app_name
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=Application
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/my.png
Exec=/usr/bin/my_app
Categories=Application;Network;
Terminal=false
Locked

Return to “Xfce”
