[SOLVED] Change login theme - Not a theme archive

Post by 4w6gte »

Having a problem trying to change the login screen, When I download a theme archive, for example http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ ... ent=105866, I get the error message "Not a theme archive - File not a tar.gz or tar archive" when I try to add it to the theme options in Preferences -> Login Window.

Any suggestions? It definitely is a tar.gz archive, and I've tried several different ones and all give the same error. I read that GDM themes need to be changed to MDM themes, so I done that but that never helped so I guess that wasn't the issue... or rather, that would have been the next issue after this one :D

Cheers in advance :)

Running Maya with Cinnamon and an AMD 64 processor, not sure if that's relevant.

Yup that worked. I'm glad you chose to give me that even though I had said I had already converted it to MDM, lol, since evidently I had not :lol:

Thanks a lot :)

Does someone know how to change the background-image for the login screen?
I found a howto for Mint 11 here: http://superuser.com/questions/334767/h ... -in-screen :

Code: Select all

$ cd /usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint
$ sudo ln -sf some-other-background.jpg default_background.jpg
$ sudo rm /var/lib/gdm/.cache/wallpaper/*
But I can't find a gdm folder in Mint13 and the mdm has no .cache-Folder.
