Re: guake terminal wont start
Thank you for providing that extremely helpful response. I was able to troubleshoot and resolve this issue all due to your gracious post...
On a serious note, Guake works under Ubuntu 12.04, but not under Linux Mint 13 MATE. There is yet to be a solution to this problem and no one seems to know how to fix it.

Guake! 0.4.4 working here - LMDE tracking Sid. I am with you, these forums should be the first port of call, when you have a problem, posting LMGTFY links is childish and pathetic and shows no community spirit. And the results shown were as close to useless and old.

Re: guake terminal wont start
For reference, on Linux Mint 13 MATE (based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS), the version of Guake in the repository is 0.4.2. However, as mentioned earlier, this version works fine under Ubuntu 12.04 (Unity). This is why I suspect it is not Guake that is at fault, but perhaps another package / distro-specific configuration.xircon wrote:Guake! 0.4.4 working here - LMDE tracking Sid.
In your LMDE setup, which desktop environment are you using? Was Guake not working in the past, yet started working recently due to the updates?
Re: guake terminal wont start
If you use MATE, then this solves the problem:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install mate-notification-daemon
Re: guake terminal wont start
On Mint 14 Cinnamon, I changed F12 to F10 and it now works fine. Have no idea whether I broke something else that was using F10 though :/
PS: By default, the Guake entry was unchecked in Startup Applications.

...Worked for me. Thankyou.sudo apt-get install mate-notification-daemon
FYI: Mate (only) repos, over Debian 7.
