Mate error on mint 13

My is booting to tty1. while loking at boot messages I saw this :

any ideas what does it actually means?

My first reaction? This folder does not exist: /var/lib/mdm as noted in the errormessage: /var/lib/mdm does not exist.

To check if this folder exist or not, open a terminal and type or copy/paste the following command:

sudo ls /var/lib/mdm
