Mint 14 VirtualBox install fails

Post by SpinyNorman »

I just tried installing Linux Mint 14 MATE 32-bit (w/ CODECs) in VirtualBox (latest version - 4.2.4), and it just hangs at the initial splashscreen. My VM has 512MB memory & 20GB virtual disk.

I've now reverted to Mint 13 MATE, and that's installing fine as I speak. Mint 12 previously installed fine in VirtualBox too.

Does anyone know what the problem is with Mint 14 & VirtualBox?

Thanks,
Ben

Try installing on compatibility mode - that worked for me on VBox

Thanks - it was the PAE which needed to be enabled in the VirtualBox VM before I installed Mint 14. Needing a PAE enabled processor is a new requirement for Mint 14.

ok... mine had PAE enabled but still wouldn't install... so in compatibility it worked
