You are not alone. I'm running 64 bit cinnamon. I'm going to look for changes in the Ubuntu Repos.

Ok! Thanks to share the problem! Is the Mint team aware of that issue?

http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ ... etdeb.net/

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/removed-mirror-site.html

removed does have a mirror which you can add to your software sources.

I've used this solution when the main removed repositories go offline for an extended period.

As with all mirrors - do not have both the mirror and the actual site active - tick either but not both.
How-to

Add the following software sources:

Code: Select all

deb http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/removed/ubuntu lucid-removed apps
deb-src http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/removed/ubuntu lucid-removed apps
N.B. change lucid-removed
for you your distro name, maverick-removed, natty-removed, oneiric-removed, precise-removed, quantal-removed

then get the software source key by copying and pasting the following in a terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com A8A515F046D7E7CF
sudo apt-get update

The mirror works just fine but this raises a question, is there a reason to go back to removed if/when it comes back online?

removed and removed discontinue:

removed and removed discontinue

After the server crash where also the removed and removed database was lost and given the fact that removed and removed now have too many packages to be handled as a one-man-project I decided to discontinue removed and removed.
In the last years I have spent so many hours in the project that now it is just too much for me to maintain beside my usual job.

But this does not mean that all the work in removed and removed is lost. The repository is still completely mirrored, e.g.: http://mirror.informatik.uni-mannheim.d ... untu/pool/ (Google search: 'quantal-removed-testing intitle:"Index of"' should give you a good list).
Also all the package script (i.e. the debian directory) for every package in the precise and quantal repository are available in my GitHub repositories:
* https://github.com/ckorn/removed
* https://github.com/ckorn/removed
* For special upstream watchers there is this repository: https://github.com/ckorn/Upstream-watchers

The web interface of both removed and removed is called apt-portal which is specialised for viewing the information in an apt repository:
* https://code.launchpad.net/apt-portal

And finally there are the scripts and little helpers of the automated build process:
* https://code.launchpad.net/debfactory

The entire repository of Debian packages can be downloaded with this script:
* http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=JaVkvFFZ

It is currently 84GiB in size so please only download it if you really want all the packages. If you just want some simply use a mirror.

Let me also thank everybody of you for the trust you had in removed and removed as an unofficial repository. I think removed and removed were one of the greatest unofficial repositories for Ubuntu packages.
I think to spend some time to bring some of the packages in the official repository.

Thank you and bye!
