Hello everyone

Postby nadia14 » Mon Dec 31, 2012 1:27 pm

Hello everyone,

i recently tried Linux Mint 14 Mate and i like it a lot. Currently i'm using Ubuntu 10.04 as my main operating system, and i find that newer Ubuntu are quite problematic for me, not bad but i would need to change my habits and i don't want to change what i'm really comfortable with.

So i have tried not so few distros, and Mint 14 Mate shines between them.

I have registered to this forum especially to ask some questions in order to solve some minor problems i have and, if possible, to give some hints in order to make Mint even better (an example? i think there should be a standard keyboard shortcut for the terminal, ctrl-alt-t, active by default in mate).

Welcome to the mint family forums

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.

Indeed, since Ubuntu changed its UI to that «modern» Unity, lots of users like me came to Linux Mint, where there's MATE (an updated fork of GNOME 2) and Cinnamon (Gnome 3 with the appearance of Gnome 2).
I hope you have a nice time here, and feel free to ask everything! :)
