Hello! :)

Post by Dabz »

Hiya! :)

Well, I'm an off and on Linux platform user, never really been comfortable with the platform until I tried Linux Mint, and, I like it! :)

I've programmed various games for numerous platforms, nothing you'll probably heard off, but, they are called:-

Word(ish)
Nags Heed Darts
Logic Battleships

Though, they arent on sale anymore from any app store, I decided to stop chasing the mobile app route as it is a bit of pig and the sales arent the best, here's a little place I put some stuff if you want a look: http://michaeldenathorn.blogspot.co.uk/

I also ran a independent coding forum called Indiecodez, but, that's gone too... I've had a big clear out of things I have time for... Life, work and everything that goes with it gets in the way... Time gets precious! ;)

My current project is a programming language called BambooBasic, I'm not here to advertise, as I'm rewriting the code from BlitzMax to C++ under GCC, I'm looking to port it to Win/OSX/Linux[Mint] and Rasberry Pi[ARM], that's the initial aim, I'm well on the way, I'm okay with OSX and Windows, so, I thought before I attempt to get it working on a Linux distro, I best join up somewhere in case I need answers to question, because I simply havent a clue when it comes to all this sudo bash whatsit... Though, I'm open to learning... So, here I am! :)

Right, bit more coding to be had, but, there we are... Thanks for reading! :)

Welcome Dabz, to the Linux Mint community! Hope you have a nice time here and using Mint :)
In my opinion, Mint lets you focus on your work and forget the Gnome 3 drama, whether you use Cinnamon or MATE.

Just thought I'd pop in for a refresher... lol!

Well, most of my code is moved over to gcc, and it all builds and runs nicely on Windows, OSX, Linux Mint and... The Pi!!! \o/

I'm onto an editor now, well, the Windows and OSX one is built via BlitzMax, just needed something quick and easy to get motoring, sort of flesh out how it will all work before I delve into the unknown in regards to Linux based GUI development (Basically, I'll copy it)

So, I've got around to using Gtk+ and Vala... I've never had a single clue what these were until about a week ago, but, their pretty cool, learning all the time, only thing I am weary about is GtkSourceView not grafting under the Pi, havent tested it as of yet, but, works well on Mint, once I get a little more done, I'll fire up my Raspberry Pi and give it a whirl... But, overall, apart from having to do the odd fresh install because of totally wrecking my distro and not knowing what the hell I was doing, I've settled down now and got it all playing nicely together! :D

So... I'm still going! Woot!!! :)
