What driver to use for 7970 for Steam

Postby grallis » Tue Feb 12, 2013 5:25 am

Hello all, I'm curious to know what driver people have been getting best results with while using Radeon 7970, Linux Mint 14(64-bit) w\Cinnamon. Ive been trying to play games in Steam but have been having subpar results, as in most games dont even start properly.

Any help\suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi - Perhaps you can try posting this query in Steam for Linux Community.
If there is a drive, there will be a path

I have downloaded the latest drivers direct from AMD here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx?type=2.4.1&product= version 13.1 and I am running Counterstrike Source and it plays exactly as it does in windows, my card is a 6800 and I'm on 32 bit but the same driver is available for 64 bit.

Running Linux Mint 17 KDE 64bit
Steam for Linux - Counterstike, Source and GO are my main games
Nvidia 750ti
Intel i5 Processor
