Wifi for Compaq Presario V2000

Postby NSM1928 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 1:15 pm

I recently loaded Linux mint w/ cinnamon on an old Compaq Presario V2000. Everything seems to be working fine except for the wifi which is missing. Any ideas, I feel I am missing something simple and I need a place to start looking.

I realize you're using the "Main" edition, but I have the same V2000 notebook. If haven't been able to resolve the networking issue and if you're willing to try this out, I'd like to say that the wireless networking in Linux Mint 13 XFCE (32-bit) version works perfectly. Wireless networking also works in version 14, but for me, there are other things in version 14 that didn't work so well... namely, MESA 9.x doesn't support our onboard intel graphics, and so we lose hardware graphics acceleration.
My setup:
    *Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 32-bit; Compaq Presario V2000-Intel 1.5GHz (Pentium M) - Intel 82852/855GM integrated video (i915)
    *Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit; HP Media Center m7780n; GTX 750Ti (v352.63); Intel E6400 dual-core @ 2.13GHz
