I have two DVD drives. If I load a data cdrom or data DVD it works as it should in either drive.
If I load a (retail) music disc in either drive and click on "open Banshee" they will play, no problem
However, if I load a music disc in the top drive but choose instead to "open folder" I get the following error message:
Code: Select all
Could not display "cdda://sr0/".
Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name :1.66 was not provided by any .service files
Please select another viewer and try again.
Code: Select all
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'cdda://sr1/Track%205.wav'. Check the log for details.
So it seems I have some kind of conflict. Here's what wodim says:
Code: Select all
keith@ada:/$ wodim -devices
wodim: Overview of accessible drives (2 found) :

If I load a data DVD in the top drive and view the output of mount I see:
Code: Select all
/dev/sr0 on /media/CDROM type iso9660 (ro,nosuid,nodev,relatime,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8,mode=0400,dmode=0500,uhelper=udisks)
Code: Select all

/dev/sr1 on /media/CDROM_ type iso9660 (ro,nosuid,nodev,relatime,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8,mode=0400,dmode=0500,uhelper=udisks)
What's going on here?
I originally started checking this out because I couldn't figure out what to give GRIP as a device designation for the cdrom drive. Nothing I give it works- not /dev/sr0, /media/CDROM, or any combination I can think of. I realize GRIP isn't part of the Mint distro, but I'd like to use it if possible. Also, I'd prefer to be able to use VLC when I want (instead of Banshee).
Any ideas about what the conflict is?
Thanks,
Keith Ostertag
