hot corner does not switch workplace when hover

hi,
i have re-installed mint14 cinnamon 64-bit, and i have noticed something strange :
when i hover on the top left corner it does not show me the workplaces as it did just few hours ago.
if i enable the 'infinity' icon - i then can click on it and it wil show the workplaces.
if i add workplaces changer to the bottom panel it does show the workplaces.
but i want the cool old behaviour - just push the cursor to the top left corner and see the workplaces.
please help me.

Go to Cinnamon Settings (under the menu) -> Hot corner -> Choose "Hot corner enabled". Done!

it works on my other laptop, but not in the one that i am using currently.
hot corner is enabled, a la expo style, but it does not function as it should.
it must be something else.
here a challenge !!!
