HP 1022

Post by Odipides »

I don't know why, but I seem to spend my life getting printers to work. Let's be honest, compared with other stuff, this should be one of the easiest things in the world given that most printers support (pretty much) a set of standard print formats. So why is it so hard?

I've got a USB connected HP 1022 and, some days it works first go, other days I need to reboot/power everything off two or three times before my laptop lets anything print to it. However, even now, although I can print a test page from the printer config panel, Okular won't send anything to the #%^#$&&; says it's printed it but nothing appears on the queue.

I can understand if something doesn't work full stop but when it works sometimes and not others I get a bit nervous.

Grrrrrr

This is a very handy page for printing problems: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems but, sadly, it didn't solve mine.

As it turns out, the problem seems to be with Okular (default pdf reader on Mint 14, KDE). Printing the exact same document with Evince works perfectly.

Bleedin' pain in the blunt end.
