effect of Mint 13 on Windows recovery

Post by wpshooter »

If I install Linux Mint 13 on a computer that has Windows Vista on it and then if later I need to do a recovery of the Vista OS with the Vista recovery CD and the recovery partition on the hard drive, will the fact that Linux Mint 13 has been installed on the computer have ANY negative effect on recovering the Vista OS ?

Thanks.

Hello, wpshooter.

Mint 13 will not affect Windows Vista recovery in any way. The opposite is true. The Windows recovery DVD is likely to destroy your Mint installation. The recovery DVD is meant to return your whole machine to the state which it had when you bought it. This means that it is more than likely that restoring your Windows Vista with the help of the Windows Recovery DVD provided by your compter vendor will erase your whole disk, including Mint, and restore the disk layout and software that was on the computer when you bought it.

Kind regards,
Karl
