HP ProBook 4515s/Mint 13 Mate
After installation in Mint and HP brightness is maximum, but display is so dark. Even less brightness dont work.
Older Ubuntu and Mint works ok.
First experiment was Ubuntu 12.04, and same problem.
Different codes dont work, because I am not root. How to be root?
Is there any solution?
Command
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub
dont lead anywhere

Re: Display is like night
The older distros do work or did work? I had a backlight die coincidentally with an upgrade. The screen was still visible if you used a strong light.
To run commands as root, use sudo.

The older distros do work.
New problem:
I can not use commands in terminal.
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
comes in the same wrong form by typing or copy/paste:
sudo gedi t /etc/default/grub
and dont work.

You might want to install a different version or distro. Mint 13 and Ubuntu 12.04 are essentially the same. Try mint 14 or even lmde to see if they fix the screen issue.
