According to what you have here the broadcom is your ethernet that is your hardwire not your wireless card your wireless card is listed as a
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
That card will not work with a Broadcom Driver.

can you list the output of the following terminal commands:

Code: Select all

lspci

Code: Select all

rfkill list all
if the rkkill list all command does not show any hardware is turned off try the following command and see it
wireless will work.

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe iwl3945
dmesg | grep iwl
lspci -nn | grep -i wireless

wireless will work.

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe iwl3945
dmesg | grep iwl
lspci -nn | grep -i wireless
Here you have all the details, i realized with your commentary about the real wireless card. i know the rfkill says that is turned off, but maybe the wireless is broken?

Anyway i tried the last commands about modprobe and lspci -nn here is the result:

[ 14.990158] iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, in-tree:s
[ 14.990162] iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2011 Intel Corporation

[ 15.044183] iwl3945 0000:0c:00.0: irq 45 for MSI/MSI-X
[ 15.216173] ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-3945-rs'

NEXOLINUX ~ # lspci -nn | grep -i wireless
0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection [8086:4222] (rev 02)

Thanks a lot for the interest.

Ok the RFkill command shows the card is manually turned off. there must be a hardware switch on the machine most likely a combination of keys f keys etc.

on the other hand the last command show that the correct driver is present and see the card.
So I believe you need to find out where hardware switch is.
What's the make of the machine?
Model # please.
