Touchpad driver sucks on Acer AO722

Post by ddaeuble »

Hello.

I'm new here and with Linux Mint 15.
I like the alternative OS and also Cinnamon is a very great Desktop!

BUT: Not everything is working fine. My touchpad/mousepad doesn't work as great as it has worked on windows.
First what I recognized is that the vertical speed is faster than the horizontal when moving the cursor around the display. And that's not all, the vertical resolution is also very bad. When trying to move a few pixels down it just jumps huge steps - no fine adjusting of cursor position possible..

My netbook is the Acer Aspire One 722 (AO722) and I think the touchpad driver should be from Synaptics.

Can someone please help me finding the correct driver / settings?

Sincerely
Daniel

Your laptop is not the most Linux compatible. Check the following link:
http://www.linlap.com/acer_aspire_one_722
39 out of 94 users of this laptop rated it only fair, poor or unusable.

Did you try adjusting the settings in System Tools > System Settings > Mouse and Touchpad for
Acceleration and Sensitivity first? I assume they are already set at the lowest level.

I need some information. Open the Terminal and type: xinput
Look in the list for a touchpad item, such as "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" and get it's id number on the right. Then type the command:
xinput list-props X
where X is the id number you got above. Post the results.
