Disable compiz.

That is correct, sorry for my short reply, was pretty tired. Compiz is desktop effects (3D cube, animated windows etc). It causes some issues with Youtube and fullscreen, disabling it will in most cases solve it. You can also open it from mintMenu, just search for Appearance, open it, go to the desktop effects and select none.
