Single Click For Desktop Icons

I am really lazy. How can I start programs on the desktop with a single click instead of the tiring double click ?

Agreed on this one, but isn't this system wide? This will also affect the behavior in the file manager for example.

I'm just used to double-clicking everything. I find it a bit hard to change an old habit.
