Hi People,--
I've just joined the forum
I've got to get up to the OfficeMax and get some blank DVDs so I can create my ISO image. So till then I'll just say "Hello, Folks"
I like what I'm reading about /Mint ... -- anyone switch from Ubuntu 12.04 ? I'm wondering if I can install Mint onto my hard drive and just replace Ubuntu , keeping my data and apps.
I really don't know how much re-building I'm getting into

Hi Mike and welcome,
I'm sure I've seen your very question before but couldn't tell you the specifics why, but, as I remember, the advice was to back up your files to an external device and do a clean install.
I think you can use thebackup tool in the same way for your apps, then do a bookmark/password export for your browser and clean install should be pretty painless, I would guess the end result would be 'cleaner', I'm sure someone more knowledgable will correct me if I'm wrong
