Using Debian repos on Mint

Hi,

I recently got my hands on the 3-disc set of Debian 7 (wheezy) dvds.

How does one go about using the Debian repository from Linux Mint 15.

I have tried inserting the below in apt's sources.list file:

deb file:///mnt/images/deb1/ stable main
deb file:///mnt/images/deb2/ stable main
deb file:///mnt/images/deb3/ stable main

However, whenever I flag a package on Synaptic to be installed, its status is always changed to 'broken'

It should be possible right ? because debian is the base on which Ubuntu is built, and mint is based on Ubuntu.

I am aware that there is also a version of Mint based on Debian. I'm curious if it is possible from LMDE as well.

Yes, it is possible with no guarantees of what will happen if you use them, nor have I tried this in a while, no need to. What you have there is the code for a local repo(stored on your machine). If you want the ones off the Internet you need something like...

The repo for Opera, google's first choice.

Edit. You may have some gpg key issues too. Not really sure, it's been a while.

I am trying to use the locally stored repos on my pc as I have the debian discs but do not have an internet connection on that pc.

so why do I get an error stating that any package I try to install is broken?

OK, now I get you. It's been a while since I did something like that.

It maybe easer to install the packages you want off the disk using Gdebi though.
