I cannot install timer-applet as it tells me it depends on...
timer-applet: Depends: python-gnomeapplet which is a virtual package.
Depends: gnome-audio but it is not going to be installed.
What can I do to get this applet installed?

Re: timer-applet
I really can't understand what in the world this broken package is doing in two Ubuntu repos (oneiric and precise) since python-gnomeapplet is long gone like Gnome 2 itself is...worik wrote:I cannot install timer-applet as it tells me it depends on...

As for the MATE version of this applet, it seems like no one have tried to port it yet, so you can't have it, sorry.

Re: timer-applet
Just for others looking for a solution to this. I was also seeking timer-applet for a new install today of LMDE/MATE and found this thread.
My solution was to install the alarm-clock package which covers both the timer and alarm functions, in a different but workable way. It is not an "applet" but that's OK for me as I don't need it sitting in the panel when not in use (it does put an icon there when running). Unfortunately, it did not create a menu entry so I had to add a launcher for /usr/bin/alarmclock.
There is also an alarm-clock-applet package but I didn't try that one out. It wanted to install a number of other dependencies and I wanted to keep things slim.
