Would wine play my game better?

Hi, I googled this but people said it depends on the game, but generally windows would run better.

I want to play EE2 but I suffered from late game slow downs (like most people did) and generally the game got CPU intensive. (intel i3 2.53ghz)
However, Linux handles CPU intensive programs better, and well isn't as bogged as windows (I maintain Windows well)

And according to test results on wine the GOG release which I have works great on the newest wine.

So. Would wine actually run it better?
I would test this, but I am worried about my Intel HD 1000 drivers not being good on linux.

Linux has good support for Intel HD drivers nowadays. If it runs for you on Windows, give it a try on Linux.
Use a light desktop environment though, like MATE or XFCE.

As well as the game, the division largely hinges on your graphics card (or lack thereof). With a dedicated graphics card, Windows usually wins out (though this is changing, particularly for nvidia cards).
Using Intel HD graphics, Linux does very well. I don't know about HD 1000 though; HD 4000 and newer are exceptional.

I'd post some in-depth phoronix comparisons, but I'm guessing you were after a general "yes or no"... which can't be given
As a general "do games work better under WINE than Windows", I'd say no. However, it's very much a case by case thing.

Well yeah a general yes or no is preferred, But the game isn't graphic intensive, its graphical requirements are laughable, but the game doesn't even correctly know my video card, saying it has pixel shader 1.1 ingame. (I guess integrated problem?)

I always use XFCE, its a nice simple interface, tried another and was lost. Heh.

And for hardware support last time I used Linux on this laptop, Playing Minecraft for example results in

Windows Average FPS=90-120 (with optifine)
Linux Average FPS=Constant 20 (with optifine)

I am not sure if thats just because of OpenGL or perhaps it was Java, never really did find that out, but thats my reason for being hesitant to try Linux on this laptop again.



BTW Linux runs amazing on my intel gma 965, brought out the best in that thing.
