Did you get any error messages? Try booting into "safe" or "recovery" mode(can't remember which is on the boot menu) and look for errors while booting. You can also try some suggestions here: http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... ur_Live_CD

Thanks, got the problem solved. Ran the Maxtor disk utility first.
