The three main problems, that I can see are:
- By default, Cinnamon is not the interface that launches with Mint 13 on startup. Instead GNOME/GNOME fallback mode is showing with just 'Applications' and 'Places' listed. Like this.
- The monitor resolution changed to low-res, with my two monitors mirroring each other. Previously, they were two separate workspaces.
- In general, my proprietary AMD/ATI graphics drivers seem to have stopped working.
What I have tried to fix it:
I have tried uninstalling the AMD/ATI drivers using this method. I then rebooted, but no 'additional drivers' are showing in that Mint application. Usually the proprietary AMD/ATI drivers are listed there.

edit: I should note that my system is currently always loading in GNOME, even if I use the 'Session' options screen to manually choose 'Cinnamon' when I log into Mint 13.
