Mint 5 liveCD boot fails.

Post by Elijah 78.84 »

Hello, I've been running linux mint 4.0 and various other distros on my second laptop for over a year now, so I'm not a total novice, but I am in no way an expert. I downloaded (torrent) of Mint 5 iso yesterday, checked the MD5 and transferred it from my (ubuntu) server to my main laptop (Vista), to burn to CD, so that I could dual boot it. (In a bid to finally rid myself of MS ) Burnt with Infra recorder, and reset the machine. It booted to the first screen with the coutdown, or the optins to boot safe or similar. I let it countdown, then it said loading _ and stayed like this, forever. I tryed safe boot, I tried another machine, I burnt a second CD straight from the server, and still exactly the same problem... HELP! Please.

I have exactly same problem, it just stand at Loading... for hours in normal boot or safe graphic mode. The CDs are fine when I bring them to another box. I think there are some conflicts between my DVDRW drive and Linux Mint 5 because when I tried run Linux Mint in VMware, first I choose iso image to boot and it worked well, second I choose boot from real CD and got this problem.
Now I want to install Mint 5 into my box not VMware, I think the solution is boot Mint by iso image. Is there anyone know how to do it? Thanks.

ps: Ubuntu 8.04 boot and run fine in my box. Mint is an Ubuntu-based distro, so why don't keep Mint's booting way same as Ubuntu?
