My PC has a bios screen while booting that gives option to see the boot menu. I think it is F10 or something similar. I have to go to that boot menu to see any USB drive. My bios won't support directly booting to an external drive. You might try that, if it pertains to your problem.

Just a quick question, how did you burn the CD?
As a data CD or did you choose to burn as image? Because you need to burn as image, not as data CD.
