I'm not exactly sure how to get blue tooth to pair with my bluetooth phone.
Running on Elyssa
Kernel 2.6.24-16-generic Ubuntu Release 8.04 (Hardy)
I have the bluetooth manager icon in my system tray and when I right click on it, I can get choose preferences and about. Send File and Browse Device are greyed out.
I've tried the following and here are the results.
Code: Select all
$ dmesg | grep Blue
[ 98.769841] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.11
[ 98.770854] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized
[ 98.770860] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized
[ 39.548821] Bluetooth: L2CAP ver 2.9
[ 39.548826] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized
[ 39.599139] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized
[ 39.599149] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized
[ 39.599151] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.8
[ 62.665949] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.2
[ 62.665953] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast
Code: Select all
$ sudo hid2hci
[sudo] password for drake:
No devices in HCI mode found
Code: Select all
$ hcitool inq
Inquiring ...
Inquiry failed.: No such device
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS( the bluetooth works fine in windows. I only say this as to show that the device works fine NOT because I have any intention of using windows ever again. *grin*)
