Skype video freezes

Post by esso82 »

Hello guys, my first post here as I have installed LMDE with Mate desktop yesterday ... and I like it (why have I been using windows on my laptops before? :D )

Now, to my problem.
Installed LMDE Mate last night dual booting with windows8, all worked fine, just need some more tweaks (brightness control won't work, etc..), anyway, installed Skype 64-bit downloaded from their website, installed dependencies, all works fine, but video freezes on my screen - both my video and video of the called person. They say, that they can see me perfectly, in fact, the picture is according to them better then any time before (windows8 sucks, right? :D ) Even if I go to settings -> video settings, I can see picture of me sitting in front of the laptop, but it is like a slideshow of pictures, say every 10-20 seconds new picture.

Can anyone help me with this please? I use skype quite a lot to call my family and friends.

My laptop is Dell Latitude 15R 5537 - i5 4200U, no dedicated GPU

Code: Select all

esso@dell_laptop ~ $ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

Code: Select all

esso@dell_laptop ~ $ find /dev -group video
/dev/video0
/dev/fb0
/dev/dri/card0
/dev/dri/controlD64

Code: Select all

esso@dell_laptop ~ $ glxinfo | grep -i vendor
server glx vendor string: SGI
client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center
any help is appreciated, thanks ;)
