Looking for backup software recommendations

I'm looking for backup software.

I have a few things I'm looking for it to be able to do.......

1. backup to an external drive
2. backup an external drive (where all the files are)
3. conduct incremental backups
4. backup the windows C drive too

I found a similar thread from 2013 referring to luckybackup. Is that the still go-to package?

You could use the built in backup tool: Menu-->Administration--> Backup Tool
But if you have VirtualBox installs, the backup for .vdi files will take long time.

CloneZilla is fast but is complicated to use, it creates a system image unlike Backup Tool.
CloneZilla runs from a CD with no OS installed (when restoring).

CrashPlan, BackupPC, Deja Dup, rsync, LuckyBackup, fwbackups are all listed as top quality backup programs.

Sorry I can't rate these all for you.
There are other methods which I'm sure someone else will know!

I've always just used rsync. It meets all the requirements you listed, and I've had no problem using my rsync backups to recover all my data when migrating to a new PC or recovering from a disk crash.

I have been using Luckybackop for many years now and I have also tried other, even newer, applications. None have afforded me the ease of use, reliability and scheduling that Luckybackup gives me.

I decided to go with luckybackup, since from my understanding it uses rsync which others recommend too.

I ran the first go, took about 2 hours. I have it set to run at startup, and that runs for about 2 minutes. I'm assuming its just an incremental backup?

Yes, Lucky backup is an incremental backup system. Very fast at each new backup session.
A good package but not yet able to save directly to cloud.

Deja Dupe also incremental is able to save directly to Ubuntu One.
But as you know Ubuntu One has been shutting down this month.

I do not agree : CloneZilla is not a backup system. He builds ISO which is different than backup.
