Mint 17 - Unable to change Icons

Post by ThatDedmanFellow »

Hello,

I'm currently running Linux Mint 17 (Cinnamon) on a laptop (system details below), and while the OS itself is perfectly stable, there is something odd going on with the Icons. They appear to have reverted to one of the stock icon packs - I'm not entirely sure which, but it certainly isn't the usual Linux Mint one (I have used other versions of Mint in the past).

I've tried changing the icon through the Theme menu, but with no luck so far (see screenshot below). This includes changing it with and without a reboot.

Is there any way to force the Icons to refresh, or am I stuck with these?

Thanks in advance,
ThatDedmanFellow

Where you downloaded this theme of icons (numix)?, I can't find it.

I found GTK X.X theme/style, not icon theme.

I installed Numix icons theme following Deviantart instructions,

Code: Select all

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-icon-theme-circle
It's working well, look:

@ OP
There is something awry with your display. Open a terminal and type: nemo -q
then close the terminal and click on "Files" in your main menu to re-open nemo.

Did you install the nvidia driver and then remove it?

Thanks a ton. It worked for me. :)

And what does that command do exactly. Restart Nemo ??

This thread is almost 2 years old.

nemo -q means quit nemo. Clicking on Files restarts nemo.

Read more about nemo in the manual when you type

Code: Select all

man nemo
in a terminal.
