Best desktop box for expansion
Are some manufactures better about providing the customer w/additional hd bays / mount points in a stock box (I prefer a two hd setup). Obviously I could build my own, but I'm not inclined to do so at this time.

Buying a finished product from a manufacturer will never satisfy your future requirements so there really are only two options for you:
1. Wait until you can overcome your current inertia and then build your own.
2. Check out the websites of computer parts resellers. The better ones will build a custom system for you with whatever components you have selected from their stock.

Most desktop machines I've seen from Dell, HP etc...have at least 1 unused drive bay and sometimes an unused optical drive bay.
Unless they're super-small form factor machines...

Do you recommend any particular web sites? What about buying a custom box/setup on ebay?kyphi wrote: Check out the websites of computer parts resellers. The better ones will build a custom system for you with whatever components you have selected from their stock.

So pretty standard among major players...MartyMint wrote:Most desktop machines I've seen from Dell, HP etc...have at least 1 unused drive bay and sometimes an unused optical drive bay.

I am not in a position to "recommend" computer parts websites because these would vary according to where you live.
I can let you see what I mean though:
http://www.techbuy.com.au/
They will build a custom system for $40.00 (AUD). Add postage.
There are others.
ebay? - never!
The best option is still to assemble it yourself from quality components - it is really just an assembly job, all you need is a screwdriver and an anti-static wrist strap. Everything else comes with the components.
Of course if you want an after market cooler for your CPU then you will have to get a case with a cut-out to mount the cooler and you will probably want to use "Arctic Silver paste" between the cooler and the CPU, etc., etc., etc.
