Can't run Mint 17 on a new Toshiba (Solved)

Post by Don_Pedro »

Hello
I bought a Toshiba Satellite L50D-B AMD Ram 8 with :

AMD A6-6310 APU
AMD Radeon R4 Graphics card.

Display 15,6 with 1366X768 resolution . Orientation Landscape
Before installing Linux Mint 17 I tried to run the USB key.
Surprise. There is a graphic card problem.
Not easy to describe, here the video :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx5xKJ ... sp=sharing

May be a driver is missing .
The LinuxMint on my bootable key was the first LM 17 official release.

Any idea?

You never installed a driver for your AMD/ATI GPU?

Maybe this will help you:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/AMD
http://askubuntu.com/questions/124292/w ... vers-fglrx
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Main_Page

And please, next time search this forum first before posting the same issue and question here! There are so many users here with similar issues posting the same question over and over who got excellent help and support and a working solution!

And i noticed this in your signature:
Mint 16 "Petra", Cinnamon 64-bit
I also advise you to upgrade your Mint version to Mint 17 or, depending on your system specifications, installing Mint 13. Mint 16 is obsolete and no longer supported and maintained, also not on this forum. More info you can find here: http://forum.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=173378.

I thank you for your answer. I checked around and saw noting wth AMD Radeon R 4.

I run without any problem Mint 16 "Petra", Cinnamon 64-bit on a Pentium Toshiba,
On the same laptop I run Mint 17 Cinnamon 64-bit with an USB key ,without any problem.

I would like to install Mint 17 Cinnamon 64-bit on another laptop AMD A6-6310 APU
with a basic AMD Radeon R4 Graphics card.

I can't run LM with the USB key .

How instal the drivers on the USB keys ?
I think it would be the first step.

Cordially

Hello I solved my problem that way :
I runned LinuxMint 17 my from USB key from another computer where Intel is installed.

I went to : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/AMD

I did only this from terminal : sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle

I tried the second instruction : sudo amdconfig --initial
but I got an error message.

Then I installed the key on the second computer with AMD Radeon graphic Card and it worked.
