Plugins for FF3

Post by lanrun »

I believe FF3 expect to find plugins in the folder /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins, but what about the mozilla plugins I have installed before upgrading to FF3? How can FF3 get use of them?

Regards
Rune

Are you talking about using FF 2 plugins in FF 3? I was just assuming that since you said "upgraded". You need to re-add any plugins you had using the FF 3 plugin manager tom avoid any problems.

I installed some plugins from synaptic package manager when using FF 2.
I think I can find them in /usr/lib/firefox/plugins.

Where do I find FF 3 plugin manager?

Open Firefox, click on the tools section in the menu bar, and then add-ons. It is all in one place now. If the addons were installed with synaptic, I would think they would be upgraded with FF 3. I think the new location is /usr/lib/mozilla so both FF 2 & 3 can use the ones that are compatible.

Hi

When I open Firefox, click on the tools section in the menu bar, and then add-ons, I can have a look on what addons are installed. I can't install new ones. I thought you meant FF 3 plugin manager where I could find and install new plugins..

It is there. The first tab is "Get Addons". It has a search bar that you can use to search and install addons/plugins. It uses the same pages that FF 2 used: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Thank you 67GTA.
I found some addons, and plugins - but are the plugins here ready for Mint?

Take RealpPlayer - this is a BIN package..

OK if I want it, I can learn how to install BIN package.

Phosgene:
I was aware of the about:plugins. I was more after how to install new plugins.

You can install any of the missing multimedia plugins directly here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7
