Awesome, just downloading the Cinnamon version. I'll seed the torrent 24 hours a day
I didn't understand this part :
I didn't understand this part :
What is compositing ? What does "undirect windows" means ?Compositing in full-screen mode is now configurable and does not require to restart Cinnamon. This means less screen-tearing by default for most users and the option to undirect windows for gamers and users requiring an application to run at full speed without being impacted by the composition manager.
Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
Thanks Clem and all of the Team, Great work. I've had it sense Thanksgiving Night, so I have had a bit to play around with it.

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
This might be a dumb question, how do you update from version 17?
Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
Not a dumb question, but a better question might be when can we upgrade from version 17?
From the the Release Notes

Code: Select all
Upgrade instructions:
If you want to upgrade from Linux Mint 17, please wait for a few days while we release a new version of the Update Manager to you. In the meantime, you do not need to download or to reinstall anything. We’ll make announcements next week when this is ready.
Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
Aaaahhh! Couldn't help myself. I have no patience. Have upgraded 17 to 17.1. Smooth as a babies' bum.
As always clonezilla is your friend before 'stuffing' around with your installation. Only two extensions that were incompatible with 17.1. As always Looking Glass pointed them out; removed and all fixed.
Well done Clem and the team. Gotta be the best distro out: Mint+Cinnamon.

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
Congratulations, Clem & Team Linux Mint, on this achievement. LM 17 had served me well and I tried Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce on rather old hardware and it worked super reliably. Now, I am waiting for the updated Update Manager as I do not want to download the entire ISO as broadband is both slow and expensive here, not always reliable and steady, either.
Linux Mint is THE very best OS out there! Thanks for bringing us such a wonderful system.

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
I was on 32-BIT as my old AMD64 Athlon TF-20 never wanted to have 64-BIT around, but I did install Rebecca and she is dancing smoothly on all 64, on just 2GB RAM, 1.8 of which is for the system and just 128MB goes to graphics. About 4GB goes to SWAP but it hardly ever touches that and, even when it does, it has not exceeded 80MB thus far.allypink wrote:Aaaahhh! Couldn't help myself. I have no patience. Not being a too educated bloke on IT, all I can say is that it baffles me to see what smooth interface I have, how stable it is and how easy installation of Mint always is compared with Mac OS X Mountain Lion and newer, as well as Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Even on this limited platform, it runs smoothly as long as I respect the antiquity of my rig. I must say, this old laptop had never run as smooth as it is doing now, even though Qiana did her thing on Xfce, MATE and Cinnamon, as I like to test the different versions.
A big thank you and a salute to Clem and the Wizards of Mint!

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
I couldn't wait on the Update Manager to have it (I needed to backup anyway) So I did a fresh install, man I absolutely love it ! Great job Clem and Team !
Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
Thanks for the new update. It's working like a charm from Update Manager!
No fresh install needed, happy with that upgrade:)
And easy to fine the "upgrade Mint" in Update Manager.

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
I'm a bit confused. I am on Mint17 Xfce, but I see in the Update Manager (under Edit) an option to upgrade to Mint17.1.
Anybody?
Anybody?

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon released!
I hope this is the right place to post problems/bugs.
I updated from 17 to 17.1 through the update manager. The update worked without any errors, but now the quick search in the cinnamon main menu doesn't work anymore.
Anyone an idea?
Thanks
