Firefox won't open

Post by kokomonjo »

I am having trouble with firefox. I have a connection to my wireless router and a strong signal but when i click on firefox under the internet menu nothing happens. I also have a shortcut on my panel next to tomboy and the show desktop button when i click it, firefox acts like it is going to start but never does. I went to synaptic and tried reinstalling all the firefox packages and still nothing. Any body have any clues?

Open terminal and type firefox then hit enter.
Then post any errors that show up.

apt remove xulrunner-1.9 firefox

Code: Select all

apt install firefox firefox-3.0 firefox-3.0-gnome-support firefox-gnome-support mozilla-mplayer sun-java6-plugin xulrunner-1.9 xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support yelp

You could clean the cache and try again.

Code: Select all

apt clean
apt autoclean
This removes all packages that you have downloaded and installed.
Maybe you had a corrupt file.
Now remove and reinstall like before.

You could also try installing seamonkey and swiftfox.

Finally! I cleaned it up like you said, then un-installed and re-installed firefox then restarted the computer and bam! Firefox worked, it actually opened close to 30 windows apparently from all the old attempts I had at opening it, weird! Thank you so much merlwiz79!
